Lost & Found
We begin on this path as a Child with eyes the size of saucers,
and dreams the size of eternity
Our hearts are full of love and joy,
as curiosity flows over our mind
like a river flooding the gates of a damn about to burst
We sing and dance and play as if no one were watching,
with no cares to bind us and no rules to guide us
And as time passes and the measured world moves forward,
we too, are measured, bound and tracked
And one day, the Child goes missing – as status becomes visible,
and spirit is split
And from the dishonest womb of the world’s opera
appears an iron mask and chains,
then walls
We bathe in gluttonous glory while devouring new idols,
and with shoulders back and chins held high,
we sit on a wicker throne,
and join the vainglorious parade
Our voracious ego panders to the bidding of society,
a well-behaved marionette – attuned to its master
And a slow creeping sorrow begins to take root,
as life’s brilliance dulls,
and shiny things become dingy shackles
But way down deep,
in the breath of our chest,
we hear a faint cry
The cry of a lonely child that we once knew,
but were separated from
A child longing to be freed from bondage and isolation,
to sing life’s authentic song again
Listen to that whisper of a cry and turn it up to a roar,
as the key to the child’s freedom is within you
Calm your mind and quiet your thoughts,
and listen closely for the child – listen
Now hear,
and reach out your hand
The child only needs a – slight – nudge to break down
the mask
and walls
and chains..
Freedom engulfs the mind, body and soul,
with the warmth of the Son radiating down,
permeating all physical form
Oh, how sweet, to hear the Child’s honest song again,
and to watch him play and laugh and dance!
And now a life worth living,
with love and joy bursting from within,
back on the path.
